Gears cutting
Gear cutting is our core business!
Since reopening in 1982, CORDM has constantly reinvested in state-of-the-art gear hobbing equipment.
Our hobbing equipment can produce any type of gears, from module of 0.5 to module of over 100.
We can produce spur / helical / internal / bevel / helical bevel / spiral bevel / Zerol / Hirth / herringbone gears, etc.
Cutting spur or helical gears is a machining process using a rotary cutter called a hob, which rotates synchronously with the workpiece. Using this process, we can produce parts up to 3.5 tonnes, with a diameter of 1600mm and a length of 750mm.
We use shaper cutters for the cutting of internal gears or external gears. The cutting process is carried out by meshing the shaper cutter with the wheel to be cut. The wheel is mounted on an axle and rotates at a speed that depends on the number of teeth to be cut.
Using this process, we can cut parts up to 1 tonne – Ø2000mm x 700mm (max. bore 1000mm and max. module 14).
Finally, with our 5-axis cutting machines and the development of our software (see Gearacy), we can also cut a variety of teeth such as herrinbone / straight and spiral gaers / large module 100 and more… (Parts up to Ø1700mm).
Whether using a hob/ shaper cutter or 5-axis cutting, our teams have the expertise to produce high-precision gears to ISO / DIN or AGMA standards.
